This Website is about how life has changed for six kids who lived in Cadishead (near Manchester) in England from around 1945 - "The Olden Days". It talks about the activities and lifestyle of the people back then, in particular the Cadishead Kids - their leisure and school activities and family life - and the things we had and used back there in The Olden Days.
Cadishead was a small town with mainly semi-detached houses occupied by working-class families, the remains of a bombed section (legacy of the war), some small farms and country lanes, and a small shopping area. I said "shopping area" because there were no "shopping centres" back then - just a few shops that lined up along the side of the main road, to grab passing traffic.
The Cadishead Kids were six siblings, of which I was the fourth, and we lived in a council-house in Cadihead with our parents until 1952, when we moved to Melbourne, Australia .
As of late 2024, there are no parents, and just 3 male siblings left.
